The University of Zagreb, the oldest and largest university in South-Eastern Europe, offers education and research in various scientific fields. With 29 faculties, 3 art academies, and the University Centre for Croatian Studies, it is the flagship educational institution in Croatia. The university contributes to over 50% of Croatia's annual research output and 80% of scientific productivity. The university's future development focuses on research-oriented teaching, master and doctoral programs, transdisciplinary research, innovation, and knowledge transfer. The university is building a new "Borongaj" campus, the largest investment in Croatian education in the last 150 years, with plans to relocate five other faculties.
