PROGRAMME EMPHASIS
Acting, Dramaturgy, Theater Directing and Radiophony (Broadcasting), Dance, and Production (theater) are the theatrical departments that make up the Academy of Dramatic Art. The film departments are composed of cinematography, editing, production (film), and film and TV directing. With this kind of organization, which houses nearly all audiovisual and performing arts professions, the Academy offers its students a wide range of academic and practical insights into the worlds of theater and filmmaking. Additionally, it fosters the innovative networking of students studying various arts as well as their potential collaboration in the workplace following graduation.
Bachelor's degrees equip graduates with the fundamental information and abilities required to function in their field of study. Proficiency in a department at the end of the undergraduate level provides a solid foundation for graduate study in that department as well as other departments within the Academy of Dramatic Art and associated institutions of higher learning in Croatia and overseas. Students who pursue graduate courses at the Academy of Dramatic Art are highly employable in the creative sectors because they are encouraged to engage in independent authorial, project, artistic-research, and professional work.
One of the most significant benefits of attending the Academy of Dramatic Art is the opportunity for students from other disciplines to collaborate, either under the mentorship of their lecturers or on their own artistic initiative. Students who participate in this kind of cooperation receive practical experience even before they graduate, which makes them very competitive on the European job market and in high demand on the Croatian one. The following are the most popular career options available right now: Performer or Actor; Stage Director; Director of Theaters; Artistic Director; Dramatist; Film Screenwriter; Critic; Film; Critic; Lighting Designer; Camera Operator; Colorist / Lighting Reader; Cinematographer-Crane Operator; Trick Cinematographer; Producer of Films; Producer of Theaters; Administrator of Theatres; Editor; Sound Editor; Sound Designer; Picture Mixer; Directing Secretary.
Through undergraduate and graduate study programs, students are taught in the realm of audiovisual and performing arts, which is the center of the artistic and scientific research of the Academy of Dramatic Art.
PROGRAMME EMPHASIS
A fine arts education offers a setting where students can develop their creative and autonomous expression skills while learning the fundamentals of all visual arts disciplines. Painting, sculpture, graphic arts, art education, art conservation and restoration, and animated film and new media are the six study programs that the Academy now offers. While master's programs promote unique and creative individual development in the field of visual arts, bachelor's programs all place a major emphasis on a solid foundation in traditional graphic approaches and classical artistic skills and abilities (such as drawing and modeling from nature). Apart from the aforementioned courses, students can opt to concentrate on particular fields like graphic design and small-scale sculpture. Along with teaching theory and skills, art education programs also cover a large chunk of art history. Studies on art conservation and restoration concentrate on providing experts with an artistic-scientific education so they may work on challenging heritage monument sites. The focus of the animation and new media program is on training professionals, including writers of computer animated films, classical animated films, multimedia artists, experimental and video films, digital films, and creative artists who can readily find employment in the film industry.
Graduates have more and more career options that are always changing. Graduates have been seen to stray from certain media or disciplines. Most exhibit flexibility in handling many forms of artistic expression within the visual arts context. Graduate students can be found working as independent artists or as employees of museums, galleries, publishing houses, cultural centers, art institutes, marketing firms, travel agencies, television, design studios, restoration organizations, multimedia centers, non-governmental organizations, etc.
Research is conducted in the following areas: visual arts; development of art projects in the field of art practice (studio-based research); organization and delivery of professional specialization programs in the field of university visual arts education; and collaborative projects with local cultural institutions. Multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary scientific research is conducted in the field of art education.
