The School of Optical and Electronic Information (SOEI) has been instrumental in the professional development of lasers and optoelectronics in China since the late 1990s. Professor HuangDexiu, who initiated the "Optics Valley of China, Wuhan," has been responsible for the construction of "Optical Engineering," the national key first-level discipline. Since 2018, it has consistently ranked first in the ranking of the best discipline of optical engineering in China.
The school actively serves the national strategy and regional economic and social development, playing an important role in the cultivation of optoelectronic information talents and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the "Optics Valley of China, Wuhan."
Relying on the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, the school has several important teaching and scientific research platforms with good research facilities. These include the National Engineering Research Center for Laser Processing, the National Engineering Research Center for Next Generation Internet Access, the Collaborative Innovation Center for Optoelectronic Technology, supported by the Province and the Ministry, the Wuhan International Joint Laboratory for Optoelectronics, the International Joint Research Center for High Power Lasers, the International Joint Research Center for Photoelectric Conversion and Detection, the Hubei Engineering Technology Research Center for Internet of Things Access, and the Hubei Optoelectronic Testing Service Center.

MASTER PROGRAM
Master of Science and Master of Engineering master's degree programs are available from the School of Environmental Science and Engineering. Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Municipal Engineering, Heating, Urban Gas, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Engineering, and Environmental Planning are the five subjects in which Master of Science degrees are given. Two engineering master's degree programs are available: environmental engineering and building and civil engineering.
There are now more than 250 master's degree candidates enrolled at this institution.

The School of Electronic Information and Communications (EIC) was established in 1960 as the Department of Radio Engineering of Huazhong Institute of Technology. It later became the Department of Electronics and Information Engineering of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in May 2000. EIC is known for its strong teaching and scientific research, offering two first-level disciplines (Information and Communication Engineering and Electronic Science and Technology) and postdoctoral research stations. It is among the first groups approved to confer doctoral degrees in Communication and Information Systems, Signal and Information Processing, Circuits and Systems, and Electromagnetic Field and Microwave.
EIC has 158 faculty members, including 122 full-time teachers, 27 professors, and 64 associate professors. It also hosts famous scholars, including Zhu Zhongliang, Zhong Shan, Zhao Zisen, and Professor Zhang Kezhao from Iowa State University. EIC offers three undergraduate programs: communication engineering, electronic and information engineering, and electromagnetic field and wireless technology. It has won the second prize in the National Teaching Achievement Award three times and has the National Instruction Base of Electrotechnics and Electronics (Electronics).
EIC focuses on the cultivation of top innovative talents, offering opportunities for students to participate in various scientific and technological activities and international and national competitions. Over the years, students have won over 30 prizes in international and national scientific competitions and numerous grand and first prizes.
Huazhong University of Science's School of Architecture and Urban Planning aims to improve talent training quality by creating high-level faculty. The school follows a team construction policy of "import, training, stability, and improvement," resulting in a faculty with continuous structure optimization, improved quality, and comprehensive specialty. The academy currently has 112 teachers, including 22 professors, 46 associate professors, 42 professors, 42 instructors, and two teaching assistants. The team focuses on green architecture, urban and rural settlements, architectural culture and heritage protection, urban design and theory, architectural climate regulation technology, architectural system engineering, regional and urban development, sustainable urban planning and design, historical and cultural heritage protection, urban planning public policy, and rural development and planning.
The school has a team of 51 teachers with doctoral degrees, accounting for 45.5% of all teachers. Additionally, the school has established an off-campus expert team of nearly 100 part-time professors, visiting professors, and off-campus tutors, mainly composed of well-known domestic and foreign scholars and experts from well-known design institutes. The primary objective of undergraduate architecture education reform programs is to develop professional architects. Students will receive a Bachelor of Architecture degree with an international diploma. Three research areas make up the postgraduate course system: architectural design and theory, architectural history and theory, building technology, urban design, interior design, and cultural heritage conservation. The School of Pharmacy at Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology was established in 1971 and is a key national institute for training pharmacy professionals. The school has over 750 degree candidates, including 400 undergraduates, 200 post-graduates, and 90 international students.
